At Cisco Meraki, our intuitive platform enables organizations of all sizes to deliver customer and employee experiences at scale. To provide best-in-class technologies to our customers, we've built an outstanding company culture for our employees. One that is collaborative, flexible, and inclusive and provides employees with the autonomy to develop technology that's intuitive, secure, and accessible for everyone.
As our Sr.Director, Product Design for Meraki, you will lead the teams responsible for the Meraki Dashboard Platform and features that span the Meraki product line - both platform and network product teams. The Dashboard is the face of the Meraki cloud ecosystem administrators have grown to love. You will take Meraki Dashboard to the next level of simplicity and scale as we innovate around opportunities in AI and security to meet the needs of administrators of some of the largest networks in the world.
Above all else, success in these efforts will depend on your ability to support the team of product design managers and build strong relationships with other design, research, engineering, and product management partners. Meraki is highly collaborative, so this role will require deep relationship-building with all teams throughout Meraki. With security and networking business units coming closer together, this role will also require building an extensive network throughout Cisco.
Responsibilities
- Lead design for the Meraki platform/dashboard (Design team ~40).
- Lead and govern a user-centered strategy that will drive consistency, quality, and simplification and help scale Meraki for large enterprises. Take a proactive and outspoken stance on where we should focus and why.
- Partner closely with other Design and Research leaders to deliver world-class enterprise solutions.
- Collaborate on cross-product/convergence efforts that will impact Meraki and the other products within the networking portfolio.
- Work closely with the Security and Observation BUs to help ensure that Security, Networking, and Observation Cloud Platforms work as a system. Leverage platform features where it makes sense.
- Effectively drive a user-centered process within cross-functional teams. Ensure that we understand the problem space(s), clearly articulate user personas and jobs to be done, map design to user goals, design high-quality and consistent interaction models and pay attention to every last detail to ensure the best customer experience possible.
- Build deep relationships with product and engineering leaders to mobilize teams, initiatives, and the organization around priorities.
- Represent the design team and work in executive presentations, steering committee forums, and other senior leadership meetings.
- Inspire both vision and a sense of urgency to deliver customer experiences.
- Manage, mentor, and empower strategic design managers who lead Meraki product design teams. Provide direction, set clear expectations, hold the quality bar high, and ensure impact and timely outcomes.
- Hire, retain, and grow talent. Work toward increased diversity.
- Lead with empathy, courage, curiosity, kindness, inclusion, and a bias toward action.
You are an ideal candidate if you have examples of how you’ve done some of the following:
- Managed teams of high-performing designers.
- Crafted simple solutions for complex domains and workflows.
- Helped organizations understand the value of design.
- Rallied teams around North Stars alongside shipping often and iteratively.
- Established or evolved a design system.
- Influenced product roadmaps and requirements on behalf of the customer.
- Solved hard organizational challenges and managed teams through change.
- 15+ years of experience as a design leader and at least 8 years managing people.

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. The recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.
U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
